In a large industrial company, time is often lost for something as simple as not being able to open a CAD file on time.<\/strong> And when CAD files arrive from customers and suppliers in different formats, the problem grows even bigger.<\/p>\n

This was the situation at Mayco International<\/strong><\/a>, a Tier 1 automotive supplier headquartered in Michigan with operations in dozens of plants worldwide. Their work depends on fast decisions across departments such as purchasing, estimating, manufacturing, quality, and logistics\u2026 but access to CAD models wasn\u2019t keeping up.<\/p>\n

The challenge: accessing CAD was slow, expensive, and not scalable<\/h2>\n

Mayco received CAD files from customers and vendors in multiple formats. This created three critical problems:<\/p>\n

1. Users couldn\u2019t open the CAD files they received<\/strong>
Teams outside engineering (purchasing, program managers, estimators\u2026) needed to review 3D\/2D designs to move tasks forward, but they didn\u2019t have tools to open them on their own.<\/p>\n

2. Buying CAD licenses for everyone was unfeasible<\/strong>
If the files were always from the same software, it might be solved with specific licenses or viewers. But one day it was CATIA, the next day NX, then Creo\/ProE or AutoCAD. Having a different license for each case meant enormous cost and an impossible-to-scale model.<\/p>\n

3. IT took days to grant access<\/strong>
Every time someone needed to open a CAD file, a ticket was created for IT. The process included request, quote, purchase, installation, and basic training. On average, access took between 3 and 6 days<\/strong>. Mayco handled around 20 tickets per month<\/strong> just for this.<\/p>\n

The result was a constant bottleneck and internal workarounds: teams ended up asking engineering for help opening files, diverting key resources away from their main tasks.<\/p>\n

The solution: SpinFire Insight as enterprise CAD visualization<\/h2>\n

Mayco was looking for a single, frictionless, cross-company solution. SpinFire Insight fit for three reasons:<\/p>\n
