The French retail chain modernizes its internal processes and improves cross-department collaboration with Dassault Systèmes’ BPM solution.

The challenge: transforming internal efficiency

The fast-moving consumer goods sector is undergoing constant evolution, driven by personalization, omnichannel experience, and the need for agility. In this context, Auchan Retail France, one of the country’s leading food retailers and among the world’s top ten, launched an ambitious initiative to optimize its internal processes and strengthen collaboration across teams.

In 2018, the company identified significant limitations within its accounting department, where disparate tools, manual workflows, and inefficient communication between central services and stores coexisted.
With more than 35,000 supplier documents per month, information processing and tracking were complex and prone to errors. The lack of visibility and reliance on email made rapid responses and effective coordination difficult.

The solution: ITEROP BPM

To address this challenge, Auchan Retail France’s Automation Factory division, in collaboration with Dassault Systèmes, chose ITEROP, the Business Process Management (BPM) solution that enables agile modeling, automation, and monitoring of business processes.

The rollout was carried out progressively, starting with simple processes and expanding its scope iteratively.
The result: a centralized environment in which all accounting transactions are recorded through standardized forms accessible from the tool, consolidating data from multiple sources and simplifying collaboration between teams.

Tangible results

The adoption of ITEROP represented a true internal revolution at Auchan:

  • 1,600 users across 5 sites, including 800 in the finance area.
  • 120 processes in production and more than 100,000 workflows launched every month.
  • 35,000 invoices managed digitally each month.

The benefits are clear:

  • Smooth communication and full traceability between stores and central departments.
  • A drastic reduction in supplier response time, from hundreds of hours down to just 3.
  • Standardized processes with improved tracking and KPI control.
  • Cross-functional collaboration between accounting, human resources, purchasing, marketing, and sales.

Since its implementation, ITEROP has become the sole communication channel between stores and central services, improving efficiency and user satisfaction.
