Our History
Our history begins in 1988, when Jesús Prieto creates Cad Tech Ibérica with the purpose of helping industrial companies become more effective and competitive. After having worked in the United States and Germany, Jesús turned his back on the benefits and lifestyle as an expatriate of a multinational company in Germany to focus on a mission to introduce IT solutions and services for the product engineering and manufacturing departments of industrial companies in Spain.
Unknowingly, Jesús had been preparing for this moment for years. His engineering and MSBA degrees and experience in a multinational organization gave him the confidence to start from scratch in Spain, a country that was becoming more prosperous after joining the European Union. He could fill this niche in the market by combining entrepreneurship, technology, and a market opportunity.
In September 1988, he founded CADTECH, a distributor of Cadam Inc., a Lockheed company, and from that day the company took a direction that differentiated it from others. Integrity, fulfilling commitments, honesty, responsibility, dedication, technical excellence, constancy, flexibility, a vocation for service, and long-term relationships with clients and employees, helped the company grow quickly, and it soon became a leading supplier to some of the most important industrial firms in the country.
Jesús built a team of dedicated professionals around him who shared the same values and passion for engineering solutions and technology, ensuring the growth of a strong relationship. The result of this can be seen reflected in the fact that Vicente Egea and Joan Font became shareholders after having worked for a time as employees of the company.
Cadtech enjoyed sustained growth both in terms of turnover and geographically. New centers were established throughout Spain to adapt services to their clients and sector needs. A decentralized organization allowed for the empowerment of decision-making by local managers while maintaining centralized common operating and information systems.
The company soon found more niche areas to expand into and began exploring other technologies, including engineering data communications, systems integration, and engineering services. These activities were nurtured within Cadtech, and the most promising ones were treated as spin-offs. They were provided with their own management structure, profit and loss account, and finances, and they were launched thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of the people who make up the organization.
This is how CT Ingenieros was born, which soon became the umbrella for various development activities and engineering projects. After several years working with technical offices across the country, more and more projects arrived, with an increasing number of clients seeking their services. The company began outsourcing engineering work package projects and experienced very significant growth in a very short span of time.
First came the automotive sector, where Cadtech had a large client base that already knew the company’s expertise. The aviation industry followed and experienced incredible growth. The maritime and railway sectors followed in the subsequent years; the company diversified into the fields of oil, gas, and renewable energies and, finally, acquired its own software and hardware products.
While CT celebrates its 35 years, maintaining the same mission, the company is one of the main providers of services and solutions throughout the engineering lifecycle, for the most relevant European OEMs in aerospace, defense, naval, automotive, industrial, etc. plants, with a strong presence in France, Germany, and Spain, and the largest private engineering solutions company based in Spain.
