Producing reliable, safe, and sustainable electrolyzers is essential to the transition toward a low-carbon energy model. As demand for hydrogen as a clean energy source grows, the industry faces significant challenges in manufacturing these devices. The need for electrolyzers capable of operating at industrial scale and with high efficiency levels is critical to ensure that green hydrogen can meet the decarbonization needs of the industrial, mobility, and energy sectors.

In this context, McPhy, a leader in the production of equipment for hydrogen generation and valorization, has taken the lead by adopting the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform from Dassault Systèmes to optimize the development of its electrolyzers. Since its founding in 2008, McPhy has been committed to advancing low-carbon hydrogen, contributing to Europe’s energy transition. The company designs and manufactures electrolyzers based on pressurized alkaline electrolysis technology, recognized for its robustness and efficiency.

With the implementation of the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, McPhy aims to structure its teams and optimize its processes across its development and engineering centers in France, Germany, and Italy. This collaboration will enable McPhy to accelerate its growth strategy and prepare for the opening of its new Gigafactory in France in 2024.

Benoît Barrière, Chief Technology Officer at McPhy, states that “a unified architecture across all our sites is a key step in McPhy’s industrial scalability, with the goal of optimizing collaborative processes among our European technology teams.” This will not only reduce product development time but will also make it possible to model the manufacturing process before products are launched to market, ensuring a more agile and efficient approach.

Low-carbon hydrogen production, enabled by advanced electrolyzers, is vital to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. McPhy’s electrolyzers are gaining recognition in industrial and energy markets as viable solutions for decarbonizing operations. The green hydrogen produced through these devices can be used not only as an energy carrier, but also as a raw material in steel production, at hydrogen refueling stations, and injected into gas networks, contributing to a more sustainable energy model.

Adopting the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform will enable McPhy to centralize its data, standardize processes, and facilitate interaction between teams, ensuring a more efficient and collaborative workflow. This innovative approach will not only strengthen McPhy’s position in the competitive hydrogen market, but also accelerate the transition toward a more sustainable economy.
