The technology group is transforming its engineering processes with Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform, bringing together product lifecycle management, systems engineering and new generative AI capabilities to accelerate the development of mobility solutions.
The automotive industry is undergoing a major transformation driven by electrification, advanced driver assistance systems and software-defined vehicles. At the same time, manufacturers need to develop increasingly complex products within shorter timeframes.
To address these challenges, Valeo, one of the industry’s leading technology suppliers, is deploying Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform as the foundation of its digital transformation.
The project aims to connect engineering processes, improve collaboration across disciplines and leverage the platform’s simulation, generative design and artificial intelligence capabilities to accelerate innovation.
A Common Platform for 20,000 R&D Professionals
Valeo has 20,000 R&D professionals, including 9,000 software engineers, working on technologies related to electrification, assisted driving, lighting and the in-vehicle experience.
The company is implementing ENOVIA as its central product lifecycle management (PLM) environment to connect design, engineering and manufacturing information.
The goal is to establish a single source of truth that facilitates collaboration, ensures change traceability and eliminates manual tasks that slow down development.
With generative AI on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, engineers will be able to explore hundreds of design options and make the best offer to our customers from both a technical and economic standpoint.
Systems Engineering to Connect Hardware and Software
The growing complexity of vehicles requires coordination across disciplines such as mechanics, electronics, software and functional safety.
To address this challenge, Valeo is incorporating CATIA Magic and moving towards model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
This methodology makes it possible to link customer requirements to system architectures and different engineering disciplines, helping teams identify dependencies and assess the impact of each modification.
The aim is to move beyond isolated working environments towards multidisciplinary development, where all teams share consistent, up-to-date information.

Generative AI on 3DEXPERIENCE: Hundreds of Design Alternatives
One of the strategic priorities of the collaboration between Valeo and Dassault Systèmes is the development of new generative AI and generative design capabilities within 3DEXPERIENCE.
The two companies are working together through an innovation lab, combining their expertise in engineering, simulation, advanced modelling and data science.
Their ambition is to transform the way engineers evaluate technical solutions.
As Christophe Le Ligné explains, an engineer working under tight deadlines typically has enough time to explore only two or three design alternatives. With generative AI on 3DEXPERIENCE, Valeo aims to expand that capability to hundreds of options, making it easier to select solutions optimised from both a technical and economic perspective.
This advancement could reduce the time spent on repetitive tasks and allow engineers to focus more on evaluating innovative proposals, supported by digital models and connected data.
Towards a New Approach to Developing Mobility Solutions
Valeo’s transformation reflects the evolution of automotive engineering towards increasingly connected, multidisciplinary and intelligent environments.
The combination of PLM with ENOVIA, systems engineering with CATIA Magic and generative AI capabilities on 3DEXPERIENCE provides a technological foundation for managing complexity and accelerating the development of new mobility solutions.
Beyond digitising existing processes, Valeo is building an engineering environment designed to address the challenges of an industry in which software, electronics and artificial intelligence play an increasingly important role.
