In the aerospace industry, where a single failure can halt an entire assembly line, Latecoere —a Tier 1 aerostructures supplier— has taken a key step toward operational excellence. Its goal: zero-defect manufacturing. Its ally? Dassault Systèmes’ DELMIA Augmented Experience solution.
The challenge: controlling 500 critical points per fuselage
Each fuselage that Latecoere assembles in its plants —such as those in Toulouse or Plovdiv— requires the precise installation of around 500 structural brackets. Inspecting these elements used to be manual, with paper documentation and many hours of work by qualified operators. In addition, any deviation could cause delays or compromise customer trust.
The solution: augmented reality at the service of inspection
With DELMIA Augmented Experience, Latecoere has fully digitalized the inspection process. Using tablets or mobile cameras, inspectors visualize the 3D model of the fuselage superimposed onto the real part. Artificial intelligence automatically detects deviations and generates reports with immediate visual traceability.
- 20–30% time savings in inspections.
- Elimination of paper and improved reliability.
- Automatic reports with screenshots and exact defect location.
- Easy integration with CATIA and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Scalability and future vision
After validating the process in Bulgaria and beginning its rollout in Toulouse, Latecoere is considering going beyond inspection. Its next step: projecting assembly instructions directly onto the product to speed up component installation and reduce interpretation errors.
More efficiency, more quality, more confidence
Latecoere demonstrates that augmented reality is not just a technology of the future, but a tangible tool for achieving the highest standards in the aerospace sector. Thanks to DELMIA Augmented Experience, quality control becomes a faster, more precise, and more reliable process.
