Decarbonizing heavy transportation is one of the biggest challenges in sustainable mobility.

While electrification is advancing rapidly, long-haul trucks still rely primarily on diesel due to their demanding requirements for range, payload capacity, and refueling times.

French startup Hyliko is betting on a hydrogen-based alternative to transform the industry. But its goal goes far beyond developing a new vehicle: it aims to provide an end-to-end service that helps companies transition to zero-emission transportation.

To make this possible, Hyliko has connected its entire truck development lifecycle through Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Collaborative Engineering to Accelerate Innovation

Hyliko develops its hydrogen trucks in a digital environment where mechanical design, electrical engineering, simulation, and manufacturing engineering work together in an integrated workflow.

Using CATIA, engineering teams design and integrate the new powertrain into existing vehicles.

With SIMULIA, they validate structural integrity, optimize weight, and verify vehicle performance before building a single prototype.

And thanks to ENOVIA and DELMIA, the company ensures continuity across engineering, manufacturing, and the supply chain to support production at scale.

The 3DEXPERIENCE platform provides us with everything we need to move quickly and lead the way in this industry. The challenge now is to scale production.

A 20% More Efficient Development Process

Engineering teams work from different locations while collaborating on a single, continuously updated digital model.

This eliminates the constant exchange of files and emails, reduces errors, and allows every discipline to work simultaneously using the same information.

According to the company, this way of working has improved efficiency by approximately 20% while significantly reducing rework.

Lighter, Safer, and More Customized Hydrogen Trucks

One of Hyliko’s main challenges is adapting existing trucks to integrate hydrogen powertrain systems without compromising performance or safety.

Simulation makes it possible to optimize the structural design, reduce weight, and validate vehicle performance under vibration and impact conditions before building a physical prototype.

In addition, with 3DEXCITE, customers can visualize fully customized configurations of their future vehicles before manufacturing begins.

Ready for Large-Scale Production

After validating its first prototypes, Hyliko is now focused on industrializing its solution.

The next step is to fully connect design, engineering, manufacturing, and component management through a single digital thread, enabling different vehicle configurations to be produced faster and with greater traceability.

Its goal is to demonstrate that hydrogen-powered heavy transportation can become a viable, scalable, and competitive alternative to diesel.
