Cargo logistics is undergoing a radical transformation with the arrival of long-range cargo drones. Dronamics, a pioneering company in Bulgaria, has developed the Black Swan, a drone designed to enable same-day delivery almost anywhere. With a payload capacity of up to 350 kg and a range of 2,500 km, this drone offers fast, cost-effective, and sustainable deliveries, operating 80% faster, 50% cheaper, and with 60% fewer emissions compared to conventional transport methods.
A platform that drives innovation
To achieve this, Dronamics has implemented the 3DEXPERIENCE cloud platform, which allows it to manage all stages of product development and adapt to the growth of its operations. “The opportunity to revolutionize middle-mile delivery and offer same-day shipping for everyone is truly exciting,” says Yavor Nikolov, Vice President of Manufacturing and Supply Chain. Thanks to tools like CATIA, Dronamics can integrate the components of its drone into a connected 3D model, optimizing the design based on operations and reducing fuel consumption.
Scalability and future growth
The flexibility of the platform also supports Dronamics’ future growth, as it plans to expand its use into manufacturing management and eventually across its entire air cargo fleet operations. As the company moves toward launch, 3DEXPERIENCE simulation and virtual twin capabilities enable aerodynamic testing and optimization of its port operations, accelerating execution and reducing costs.
Preparation for the first commercial routes
With its first commercial operations planned in Greece, Dronamics expects the Black Swan to cover routes over water and uninhabited areas in Europe, complying with aviation safety regulations. As it works toward type certification to meet safety standards, the 3DEXPERIENCE platform becomes a key tool for managing data and demonstrating its technological capabilities.
Dronamics is revolutionizing cargo transportation, and its collaboration with Dassault Systèmes enables this vision to become a reality with efficiency, innovation, and sustainability.
